Celebrating 50 Years of Serving the Florida Keys

Guidance/Care Center, Inc. (GCC) provides behavioral health services, education, and support to benefit:

  • People from all incomes and walks of life
  • Adults, children, and families
  • Persons experiencing issues with mental health and/or substance abuse problems
  • Persons in crisis
  • Adults with serious and persistent mental illness
  • Mothers and fathers working to be better parents
  • Children and youth with a behavior problem

GCC works collaboratively with other agencies, schools, private providers, law enforcement, hospitals and other behavioral health providers to support and enhance the benefits to our clients, consumers and other stake holders. Services available to women and pregnant women receive preference. GCC serves all clients regardless of inability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income. Mobile Crisis Response Team

Program Description:
24 hour triage for all Monroe County Residents. Crisis response to avoid the need for psychiatric hospitalization, emergency room utilization or jail and link to community based behavioral health services. MRT hotline (305) 434-7660 option #8

Community Action Team

Program Description:
The Community Action Team (C.A.T) is a multidisciplinary team that provides complete wrap around care as a safe and effective alternative for youth with serious behavioral health conditions.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Age 11 to 21, with a Mental Health Diagnosis or Co- Occurring Substance Abuse Diagnosis with one or more of the following accompanying characteristics:
  • The individual is at risk for out of home placement as demonstrated by repeated failures at less intensive levels of care..
  • The individual has had two or more periods of hospitalization or repeated failures.
  • The individual has had involvement with DJJ or multiple episodes involving law enforcement.
  • The individual has poor academic performance or suspensions.
  • Leave behind a permanent legacy of improved coping skills, educational and resource materials, and enhanced community linkages.
Children under the age of 11 can qualify if they meet two or more of the above-mentioned characteristics.
